Ch-ch-ch-changes

Guys, it's been a crazy year.  Since planning a wedding, getting married, and gaining a husband/permanent roommate wasn't enough, we've had a few other big life changes as well.

Big change #1: WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

(No, those aren't all of our cars. haha)

Kevin and I started house-hunting about a month after our wedding when we realized we could get a home with no down-payment because of Kevin's Veteran status.  (Thank you, VA!)  It took us three months and multiple home tours before we found our house.  Since Kevin was scouring MLS for newly-posted listings multiple times a day, he noticed this house about an hour after the selling agent first posted it online.  We quickly made an appointment to see it the following morning, and had the offer written up and submitted by that afternoon.  (Hey, they say that when you know, you know!)  With our realtor's assurance we only gave the seller until 4pm that day to accept our offer, and we received a call at 3:59pm telling us that it had been accepted.  Talk about waiting until the last minute....

Before buying our home I had been under the impression that the process would be long, frustrating, and stressful.  But thankfully for us it was the opposite!  The experience couldn't have gone any smoother - everything went through without a hitch and the seller of the home left the place absolutely spotless for us (even leaving us all the instruction manuals for the appliances, as well as labeled paint containers!).  Heck, even signing the paperwork took less than an hour.  Before we knew it, the seller handed us the keys and we were officially homeowners. *gulp*

We've been in our house for just over a month now and couldn't be happier, despite not being able to keep the heat up to 70 like I did in our apartment where we got free heat.  (Oh how I miss free heat....)

BIG CHANGE #2: WE GOT A PUPPY!

Meet Zoey, our almost-5 month old Shiba Inu mix.  We got her from the dog rescue organization JR Pups-N-Stuff.

CUTENESS OVERLOAD.

We're one big Packers-loving family.

Kevin had been talking about getting a dog since the day we started dating, so I knew it was only a matter of time after getting the house that we would get a dog.  But I don't think either of us would have guessed that I would have been the one to find Zoey and fill out the application to bring her home!  Here I told Kevin that I wanted to wait at least a month before getting a dog, and we brought her home after only three weeks.  He still gives me crap about that, but I don't think he's complaining.

Getting a house AND a dog before our six-month wedding anniversary sure has made our lives busy, but I think it's safe to say neither of us would change a thing.  I can't wait to start posting all of our home updates and DIY projects!  More to come. :)
